And to think that I almost didn’t read this book! The blurb read almost sleazy and the forbidden relation of student-professor doesn’t appeal to me, but then I thought, I love Skye Warren’s books so I dived in. And oh boy, what a story! Hot and delicious and oh so wonderfully forbidden with a side of age gap. And to top it off, he’s the father of her ex-boyfriend, talk about cringe worthy moments!
Anne is usually a geek, dressed in jeans and sweatshirts. But she needed money for a book and her roommate convinced her to go to a bar, pick up a rich older guy and get paid. So she dressed up, slinky black dress, and voila! Gorgeous and sophisticated older guy! They spend a very delicious filthy night and she’s almost sorry she won’t see him again. The big surprise is to find out later he’s her new literature professor!
The intrigue lies in a secret society that is mysteriously linked to the professor and interested in her. The theme is Shakespeare and the allure is the secrecy and the danger. The professor is mired in the secret and she just can’t resist. The ex-boyfriend is a clueless man-child, cute but too bland. The book ends in a cliffhanger with very ominous tones, so next installment promises to be enthralling! Can’t wait!
