Book review: MIDNIGHT PRINCE, by J. Saman

Once Upon Ever After #2

Rowan & Marcella

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Magnificent! This book absolutely shines, taking everything wonderful from the first two installments and raising the stakes in the best way. After following King Sebastian’s journey, we step into Prince Rowan’s story and go back into the suspense, the mystery, the menace of the curse, and it’s impossible not to fall right in.

Rowan has always been the charming prince in the background, but here he becomes a man longing for something real, something tender, something his brother found with Bellamy. And when he crosses paths with a mysterious woman who steals his breath—and leaves behind only a diamond earring—he’s caught and is a man on a mission.

Marcella is the heart of this book. Strong, abused, brave, and desperate for freedom, she’s a heroine who grabs you from the first moment. Watching her step into the palace as a simple maid, trying to build an honest life while carrying the weight of her past, is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Initially, she was carrying out a job to honor her slain brother, then she realized the truth and decided to honor that truth, not her owner’s. Her chemistry with Rowan is electric, full of longing, tension, and a sweetness that sneaks up on both of them.

What makes this story unforgettable is how seamlessly it blends romance with danger, secrets, and jaw‑dropping revelations. The last chapters brought new twists, new truths, and new emotional punches.  My jaw was touching the floor, I was so surprised. The suspense keeps you glued to the page, but the love story is what makes your heart ache in the best way.

Rowan’s devotion, Marcella’s courage, the royal family’s warmth, and the unraveling of long‑buried mysteries all come together in a tale that is passionate, tender, and thrilling. It’s a story about healing, choosing love over fear, and finding your place in a world that once tried to erase you.

A captivating, emotional, nail‑biting romance that left me smiling, swooning, and eager for the next chapter in this royal saga.

Book review: BECAUSE THE NIGHT, A VAMPIRE ROMANCE, by Kylie Scott

There is no doubt this story is a passion project from the author because it is so freaking, fantastically entertaining.  It’s such a fun story, told in a lighthearted manner with such droll humor. I loved Skye, she is so sassy, talks back to this recently revived, grumpy vampire that she keeps him on his toes all through the story.

Lucas, as happens with these magical creatures that live forever, decided to take a break and went to sleep for a century, until he was rudely awakened by Skye. He woke up grumpy, gaunt, and hungry and finds this interloper just right there, available for his breakfast snack. Cue neck bite!  And as he fills out to a gorgeous creature, she dies and undies, and comes back turned into a vampire.  The rest of the book is a romp of all these creatures that go bump in the night, complete with two new big vampire brothers, Henry and Benedict, the last a Viking berserker.

Henry is delicious and funny, very chatty, fashionista, naughty and just plain adorable.  Both Henry and Benedict throw out crazy sayings, sass their father Lucas, try to teach their new sister the ways of the vampire world, in between beheadings, fights for vampire control in Los Angeles, sibling fights, and all kinds of fun and gory stuff.

It’s lively, funny, and entertaining, I loved it and now I want more Henry!

Book review: TORRID, by Abbi Glines

Judgement #2

Liam & Liberty

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was dying to read Liam Walsh’s story and the author surpassed my expectations!  I loved Liam and Liberty and Ozzy! Going with age gap and surprise pregnancy tropes was genius, because nothing else would unnerve this bad boy, er, man.

I loved seeing Liam as a loving grandfather, loved seeing Madeline settled as the wife of the Mafia boss and bossing him like a queen! I loved Liberty, a modern-time Cinderella, who received horrible treatment from her evil step-mother and sister, and in spite of being in a hot mess all the time, she never stopped being kind and positive.

Idiot Liam believed all the lies he was told by the evil sister, only to be brought up short as he saw his whole crew captivated by Liberty’s sheer goodness and willingness to help. Even his dog Ozzy changed flanks! He got some deserved knocks and I was glad he did!

As always, Abbi Glines draws us readers in with the addictive stories of the bikers and mafiosos, their women, dogs, assorted enemies, and yummy sexy times. They are super entertaining, have cute humorous moments, and are just plain deliciously sexy. I especially loved Ozzy, Liam’s Great Dane, rambunctious and social, who transferred his loyalties to Liberty and defended her like a champion. The part where Ozzy pulled his doggie bed to her side of the bed was such an awww moment!

As always, entertaining, sexy and fun, these stories have turned into a necessary hit to my book addiction, and I await each one with fervor and gratitude.  Please keep them coming, I love all these bad boys!

Book review: VELELLA, by C.W. Farnsworth

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The opening chapters of this story were excruciatingly slow—and in my opinion, deliberately so. I could feel the narrative holding ...
