Book review: ALL TIED UP, by Abbi Glines

Mississippi Smoke #7

Ransom & Noa, part 2

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This conclusion to Ransom and Noa’s story is one of the most romantic books in this series.  Ransom is forbidden to see Noa, the command comes from Blaise Hughes himself.  This causes unending despair and frustration on Ransom, and an utter desolation in Noa.  She felt rejected, tossed aside after one night of sex.

Reading about Ransom’s torturous weeks of missing Noa was very angsty and romantic.  Abbi Glines wrote a maelstrom of emotions as he wrestled with missing his woman, his best friend, the one who calmed the darkness within him. And Noa, submerged into utter devastation, when she lost her daily texts with the man she loves.

The book is very emotional, I loved how Ransom comes into the realization of how much he loves Noa, how much he needs her to stay sane.  The final parts of the book were very dramatic, very compelling, before we’re gifted with the long awaited HEA.  Another winner to add to this incredible series!

Book review: ALL JACKED UP, by Abbi Glines

Mississippi Smoke #6

Ransom & Noa

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don’t know what it is about Abbi Glines’ books but they are addictive and I can’t help grabbing them as soon as they appear in my Kindle and devour them.  I have been waiting a long time to read Ransom’s story, he always appeared so serious and strict, and he didn’t disappoint!

Ransom and Noa have been “texting pen pals” since high school. Noa tutored Ransom for his British Lit class and he liked how irreverent and funny she was, once Noa got over her shyness.  He’s been leaning on the texting between them for support on his worst dark moments and he appreciates her a lot.

Noa is now a best selling author of romance novels, uses the name of Juliette Romeo, so when they met, she recognized him but he didn’t recognize her.  From this moment on, the story is a hoot, as Ransom falls in lust with the author who is his best friend in text.  Also, she uses him as her hero in her stories, a big reason for her success.  Talk about a lot of connecting lines!

Once he learns that she is Noa and he is Draven, the hero in her books, a wonderful and entertaining back and forth ensues, as he battles his growing attachment to the real person, while worrying that the physical relation will affect their texting pen pals relation.  He’s so cute and sometimes so clueless!  Noa has been in love with him since high school, but likewise, she cherishes their friendship so she follows his cues.

The best part was when they did some “friendly cuddling”, I laughed so much at him trying to convince himself he could get back from that.  I loved how hard he fell, how hard he fought it, and how considerate he was of his friend.

He used to joke Bane, Than, and Oz about their psycho behavior when they fell in love, and now the joke’s on him, he joined the psycho club!

The story is lovable in parts, yummy sexy in others, completely riveting and entertaining all the time. It ends in a soft cliffhanger, and I can’t wait for the next part, as I want more of funny Noa and crazy Ransom!

Book review: KADE, by Tijan

Fallen Crest #8

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was so excited to get this ARC to review and then overjoyed to find I got two stories in one, a return to Fallen Crest for Logan, Mason, and Sam; but also the introduction of Maddy, Mason’s daughter and an exact replica of her father’s persona, and the promise of a new era of second generation adventures.

The book starts with a gruesome scene which pitches Mason and Logan right back to their roots in Fallen Crest.  Mayhem, investigations, plots, it all comes back. It’s like once they are back home, the vibes of their hometown creep up on them and they have to go back to how they used to be.  Except, they’re not the same anymore.  They are in their thirties, happily married and parents.  Mason is retired from the NFL so he’s not as restricted in his actions but is still a very public figure, so some decorum is needed.  Not so much Logan who is still as crazy as ever and as fun to read.

Samantha and Heather are still the best of friends, we get to see a new version of Sam when she drinks, instead of Ninja Sam, we get Dinosaur Sam, a barrel of laughs.  I loved Sam and Mason, how much in love they are, so many years later, and what a wonderful family they have created. I got a kick our of their good cop/bad cop routine with the kids; Sam is the disciplinarian, Mason is the softie, who knew?

The book is convoluted, there are several plot lines, everyone in the Fallen Crest world appears, even Zeke the stalker, and we get new characters to love: Beltraine, Steele, and Axel.  I got a kick from getting to know Maddie, she’s Mason in girl form, with some goodness that comes from Sam.  She’s a little crazy like her uncle Logan, loves her family fiercely and nobody touches them without some kickback from Maddie.  When she states at the end of the book that World Domination Day is on, I’m rejoicing because I know there’s more to come!
