IRRESISTIBLY RISKY, by J. Saman

Asher Reyes is the best book-boyfriend! We finally read what happened when he had the limp incident and it was hilarious! And then on their second encounter, the big surprise, heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time.  It was one sublimely sweet love story!

Asher got sacked in the first pre-season football game and his coach asked for Dr. Wynter Hathaway to be his orthopedic surgeon.  Since Wynter has just started as attending at Mass General Hospital, she was mystifies until she learned who the coach was, Joe Cardone, her biological dad, who abandoned her when she was five years old.  Because of him, she hates football and all football players.  And now she has to deal being the team’s doctor!

In previous books, Asher Reyes is cocky, funny and sweet.  All his friends razz him about the incident where he met a woman, they started to have sex and he had performance problems.  He was drunk, had taken muscle relaxants and was dehydrated from just playing and winning the Super Bowl.  But the incident and the woman stayed in his mind, until one and a half year later she appeared in his life as his new orthopedic surgeon and she was to operate his shoulder.

He was a sexy, self-assured man, but when he learned he had a ten-month old son, he was a heartbroken one.  He immediately loved the idea of a son.  As soon as he met him, he was a complete goner.  His huge heart and ability to love were the things that made me love his character in this story.  Wynter’s easy acceptance of his part as Mason’s father also endeared her to me.  They didn’t have manipulations, just the best wishes for their son’s happiness.

There are a lot of dark forces surrounding Wynter and Asher, all related to the coach, who didn’t seem to want Asher as his QB1 and preferred the QB2.  So we’re entertained with the comings and goings of Asher and Wynter as they learn the ropes of co-parenting, Asher wooing Wynter into being his queen, and Joe’s malicious manipulations.  It truly was a nail-biting, turn-over story!

The thing I loved the most was Asher’s comment:  “I just want to be his dad”, as he begged Wynter to let him be close to them.  The other one I loved is how he called her “my queen”, and he did indeed treat her like so.  It was supremely romantic and it had a very satisfying scene when the villain is unmasked Very explosive, I relished that scene!

And now, looking forward to the next book that features the silent guy in the group, Lenox. He’s mysterious and reticent, of few words, and a little tragic because Suzie was his twin sister.  I can’t wait for this one!

Book review: KARMA’S KISS, by R.S. Grey

The best part about this book is that it’s a small town romance, and I love this trope.  Everyone knows everyone else’s business, gossip tra...
