Book review: Three to get Ready, by Skye Warren

One for the Money #3

 In this final episode of this fascinating trilogy, what Finn called the Hughes curse is now public knowledge.  He has to face the angry members of the board at his company, the hit on his company’s shares value, the hit on his reputation.  And as always, Eva Morelli at his side, supporting and helping.

I hadn’t seen Finn needing, loving, and wanting Eva as much as in this book. It’s like he lost all resistance to protecting her from “his curse”.  

As always, Eva got into her fixer mode.  Same as she did for Leo and his skin condition, she was determined to find a cure or a treatment that would slow down the dementia.  Leo was with her in this scene, and it was lovely to see his faith on his sister.

The Morellis and the Hughes get together on this final episode, and also Finn’s mother comes to stay.  In a way, this dark moment in Finn’s life had a positive light, in that his little brother Hemingway and his mother, stood up to the moment, and accompanied him in facing the consequences of the public frenzy.  The scene where Finn goes into Eva’s closet thinking it was the bathroom was so heartbreaking.  I truly felt it was the beginning of the end, but it turned out to be the beginning of a long time for them.

I loved that the author didn’t bring us a miracle cure.  Instead, we read a book on acceptance, on facing one’s destiny with grace, accept the love you are given by the woman you love, and enjoy your father when he’s present.  It wasn’t dramatic, and it wasn’t tragic, instead, it was heartwarming and full of love and acceptance.  For me, it was the perfect end.  And the bonus epilogue was adorable!
