Book review: Cruel King, by K.A. Linde

Cruel #7

Gavin & Whitley

Wonderful, marvelous and deliciously steamy, this story had so many feels and so many moments!  I don’t know why the title is Cruel King, since Gavin King is everything that is kind and generous and a great lover.  Maybe in reference to the Cruel Crew the series started up with?  All I know is I loved Whitley and Gavin in this story and loved seeing the gang together, ganging up on our lovers and supporting them when they needed.

In previous books I saw Whitley as the wild friend, the light of the party.  Like Gavin, she’s a player, enjoys sex and partakes frequently.  Also like Gavin, when it turns nasty, they both turn and run.  In Whit’s case, she also takes a blowtorch to the relation, being that she’s a spitfire.

However, in this story, I saw her as fragile.  We get to see her demons and her insecurities and learn about her toxic mother, so we commiserate and wish that much harder for her to get her HEA.  I saw Gavin handling her, trying to get his woman without her running scared.  I also loved seeing the scenes with a Katherine Van Pelt acting as conciliator and advisor to her friend Whit.  Then there’s also Camden helping Gavin, but we’ve learned that’s his custom, to give help when it’s needed, especially to his friends.  Anna English is everything that a bestie should be and do.

What started as fake turned true, although I felt that they had been loving each other for quite a while but they were both scared of settling down.  I saw both involved and invested,

Gavin more than Whitley, then a determined Gavin and an indecisive Whitley.  It was lovely, steamy, yummy deliciously tender and strongly emotional.  Wonderful in all the ways!

Book review: KARMA’S KISS, by R.S. Grey

The best part about this book is that it’s a small town romance, and I love this trope.  Everyone knows everyone else’s business, gossip tra...
