Book review: Hard Hit, by Brenda Rothert & Kat Mizera

St Louis Mavericks #5

Boone & Jolie

Super enchanting, full of family drama and good intentions all around.  Boone’s brother has cancer and undergoing chemo, and Boone is working on a trade to Nashville to be near his family.  However, when he goes to his coach’s daughter’s wedding and finds Jolie running away from the wedding, he helps her and can’t help feeling attracted to her.

As penance, Coach G has Jolie work with his kids hockey clinics where Boone already works.  So they start talking until Coach G puts a stop to it.

Boone gets more family drama to deal with, Jolie also has father controlling issues to deal with.  Notwithstanding, even with the fear of being a rebound, a romance is brewing and it’s turning to be all they didn’t know they wanted and needed.

The book is a page-turner full of a little boy’s adorable moments, super steamy moments between Jolie and Boone, and the heartwarming support of a hockey team that feel more like family than blood family.  I love the caring atmosphere, how the gang gathers in a hospital for hours, waiting while one of the wives is having a baby, reading about Nash’s crappy jokes, and the women’s sexy banter as they interrogate Jolie. It’s happy and heartwarming even with the family drama and such a feel-good read.  Totally recommend!

A former print journalist, Brenda Rothert has written more than fifty romance novels. From hot hockey romance to steamy romantic suspense, Brenda creates fresh characters in every story she tells. Her print and e-books have been translated into German, Italian and Portuguese, and her audiobooks have been translated into German.

Kat Mizera

Kat's a typical PTA mom with a wonderful and supportive husband (Kevin) and two amazing boys (Nick and Max). When she's not writing, she's either scrapbooking or indulging in her second love (after writing) - traveling. Greece is one of her favorite places in the world. She loves that Athens is a big city with a small-town feel. The food, beaches and culture keep her going back as often as possible. She hopes to retire there one day so she can spend her days writing books on the beach.

As you can guess from her series, the Las Vegas Sidewinders, Kat loves hockey. She is also a freelance hockey writer, covering her favorite team, the Florida Panthers, and any other teams that have an interesting story. The rest of the time, she writes novels: sexy, romantic fiction that she hopes makes you as happy as it makes her. There's something enticing about hockey players and romance...

Book review: KARMA’S KISS, by R.S. Grey

The best part about this book is that it’s a small town romance, and I love this trope.  Everyone knows everyone else’s business, gossip tra...
