Book review: BLITZ, by Devney Perry

Forbidden love done right, as only Devney Perry can!  Yummy love story between an athlete student and a coach in the Treasure States U.  Jennsyn just arrived to this university, a transfer from Stanford.  She’s a gifted volleyball player, so it’s a mystery why she transferred because it feels like a step down. And yet, she’s happy with the change but very reticent with her teammates.  There’s lots of secrets with this one!

We read about Toren in Coach, he’s Millie’s good friend and bet taking competitor.  They used to bet on everything.  He’s the defense coach in the Wildcats, working closely with Ford Ellis, Millie’s love interest in Coach.  Both stories happen simultaneously and we get glimpses of what is happening between Ford and Millie and a taco eating bet between Toren and Millie.

I felt the love and the yearning between these two and anguished because they had to hide from everyone.  The pull is stronger than the desire to do the right thing.  Not only is she a student and he a coach, he’s older by twelve years, so I felt his worry that he’s ready to settle down and she’s just starting her life.  Also, her mother is trying to make Jennsyn live her life according to her mother’s terms, she made me so angry!

Emotional and very steamy, this was a great love story.  I felt the love so strong between these two and I was rooting for them, at the same time I was cringing, waiting for the discovery and hoping for a positive outcome.  The author kept me riveted waiting for the axe to fall and she didn’t disappoint with the wonderful HEA.  Romance as only Devney Perry can deliver!
