BURN, by Abbi Glines

Smoke series # 8

Kye & Genesis

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Abbi Glines knocked it out of the park again!  This story was not just full of passion, but with tons of adorable too.  Kye is like a man baby, needs lots of kinky sex and has a strong devotion to his bestie Genesis.  He doesn’t understand that you can love a woman and stay faithful and not get bored by having sex with only that woman.  So, he fiercely defends his friendship with Genesis, while he visits the strip club very frequently.  And of course, he insists that he is all that Genesis needs, sans the sex, deluded AF!  As the story develops, he matures into the man he needs to be for Genesis and baby Jagger.

Once you start to read this book, you can’t put the book down.  It has a fast pace, full of emotions and struggles. Genesis struggles between the safety that Bowie represents and the intense love she feels for Kye is perfectly portrayed by the author.  She’s always loved Kye but she knew he wasn’t capable of fidelity, and Bowie promised devotion and children.  Then, a baby is left outside the door of the strip club with a letter proclaiming it’s Kye’s and he’s stuck with the problem.  But once he goes to Genesis for help, the trouble becomes an adorable baby that Genesis falls in love with.  And forces Kye to grow up.

I loved Genesis introduction to the “Lords of the Underworld”, there was lots of cooing when Kye brought her and baby Jagger to the house.  The guys are rough but they are courteous and it’s very apparent that the women own them.

I loved this beautiful story, with the cuteness of a baby boy, the cuteness of a man baby who grows for love of a woman and a son. Genesis was perfect from the get-go, a generous and kind woman, full of love, with expectations of a marriage and kids, yearning to get them from the love of her life but doubting it.  It was a lovely and heartwarming read, funny in parts because it’s Kye and he’s sometimes clueless to the point you want to smack the back of his head.  But he’s full of love, for his momma and for Genesis and then his baby boy.

The family also appears in all their crazy (Gage), their calculation (Levi and Huck), the levity (Trev) and the authority (Blaise), and the friendship (all their women).  Entertaining as heck, with villains because of course, this is a mafia book, but for once, there’s not much darkness so it’s more tender.  Abbi Glines is killing it with this series and I’m happy to be part of this ride!

Book review: KARMA’S KISS, by R.S. Grey

The best part about this book is that it’s a small town romance, and I love this trope.  Everyone knows everyone else’s business, gossip tra...
