Book review: PERFECT FIT, by Carly Phillips

 I have a group of comfort authors that I love to read, and Carly Phillips is in that group.  I always turn to them when I need a perfectly lovely story with wonderful characters, a feel good happily ever after.  Once Carly Phillips started with Serendipity, I have been anxiously waiting for the next book.  We already read the three Barron brothers, now we’re starting with the Marsden siblings.  Lovely times guaranteed!

Mike Marsden is the oldest of three siblings, their father is the city’s Police Chief.  When Mr. Marsden was struck down with cancer, Mike came back to town to take over his position until he recovered.  Mike is a wanderer, he doesn’t stay long in one place before he gets itchy to move.  He left town as soon as he could, and was working as an undercover cop because it provided the changes and thrills he pursued.   Now back in town for a while, he’s hooked up with Cara Hartley, and although they agreed it would be temporary, “no hearts involved”, as we read the story, we know there will be more and longer!

“She knew better than to think he didn’t care in return. He just didn’t know how to deal with relationships.”

I loved this story as well as am loving the Marsden family.  Two steady and loving parents, a younger brother who is a cop and a younger sister who is Assistant DA.  They all speak the same language in that house!  The Barron brothers and wives also make appearances in the story, and most specially Tornado Tess!  There are family issues on both sides, and some tension from one of the charities Cara volunteers with.  It’s a family fest, sweet and sexy times, a lovely story and a very much needed feel good finish.
