Book review: A SENSE OF BELONGING, by Laura Branchflower

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ve had this book for ages and didn’t have a chance to read it until now, and wow, I loved it.  This author did such a good job of presenting these characters in such perfect form, just as you expect them to be.  I’ve been thinking about it, even days after I read it, it was that good!

Basically, this was a meeting between innocence and jaded.  A high-powered attorney with Washington DC political connections meet this young university student and they share a deep connection.  For him, it would be just sex, but she wears her heart on her sleeve and for her it’s much deeper, more meaningful. What should have been just a fling eventually turns into something more serious, more deep.

Casey doesn’t change during this story, she’s the same wonderful, kind, big-hearted young woman with big lofty goals of helping those less fortunate than her.  Tony Prossi, son of a Senator and bound by a legacy of service in the Capitol, is very attracted to Casey and in denial that it could be serious.  He tries to live a double life, sexy nights with Casey apart from his professional life where Casey is not included.

There are factors keeping them apart, mainly the age gap, she’s twenty-one to his thirty-five, his parents ambitions for him to run for Senator, and her father’s complete prohibition that she ever date Tony.

I loved Casey’s steadfast love and openheartedness, and I loved how Tony denied, refused, tried to compartmentalize his life but in the end, succumbed.  I loved reading their daily minutia about their daily lives and their sweet moments together, loved reading how Tony went slowly and kicking from lust to love.  It was inspiring and very satisfying to read this wonderful love story.

The best part about this book is that it’s a small town romance, and I love this trope.  Everyone knows everyone else’s business, gossip tra...
