Book review: SMOKE BOMB, by Abbi Glines

Smoke series #3

Huck & Trinity

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This series is getting more and more addictive!  And super hot! I wait impatiently for the next book, then devour it in one day!  One abused and broken woman finds a man who doesn’t want a commitment but he turns possessive and protective in an instant.  They have a common history: his brother, her fiancee.  After his brother died, a chunk of his heart is broken, then when he finds Trinity again, the memories come back with the shoulda, coulda, woulda.

At first he hated Trinity, and as the book evolves he finds out all the ways Trinity is broken.  And his hate turns into protection and a need to avenge those who hurt her.  What he insists is only sex until he gets tired of it turns into something necessary.  The poor guy is falling in love, kicking and fighting it all the way!

I loved how Gage and Levi, so dangerous initially, turn into puppies when Trinity prepares the sumptuous breakfast spreads.  The way to a man’s heart is definitely through the stomach because these two guys turn into Trinity’s warriors and defenders against everyone, including Hunk.

I was at turns saddened and angered at Trinity’s past life and the way she was abused, amused by Hunk’s assured affirmations this is only temporary, and laughed out loud and Gage and Levi’s moans as they enjoyed a cinnamon roll.  Maddy and Blaise appears and I loved this new image of them, Maddy is a self-assured woman and mother, Blaise a proud papa, very much the leader in the Hughes family.  I got a glimpse of Trev and loved him, spoiled but so nice and friendly as always.  He was the first one to get Trinity to play and laugh out loud, to Hunk’s disgust.

The story evolves slowly which is perfect.  Trinity needs to heal and Huck needs to deal.  Their love story needs to develop slowly as both overcome their common history related to Hayes, Huck’s deceased little brother.  And Trinity needs to find her happy, which actually never existed before due to her dreary existence. This book was truly riveting and now I can’t wait for crazy Gage’s story!

Book review: KARMA’S KISS, by R.S. Grey

The best part about this book is that it’s a small town romance, and I love this trope.  Everyone knows everyone else’s business, gossip tra...
