I’ve been reading about the Accardi twins since they were sweet little boys, then holy-terror teenagers, and now I’m happy to read them as made men with the Mazzone famiglia.  This story has all that I expect and need from Siobhan Davis: the gritty violence of the mafia world, the angst of a love that seems unrequited at first, the steamy and sweet love scenes, and above all, the drama and adventure that makes me pass the pages feverishly.

In this instance, I’m more in love with the story because I’m seeing the twins, now grown up, so serious and mature, but still mama’s boys who wash dishes after she makes dinner for them.  They’re quite domesticated! There’s a particularly beautiful scene where Nat and the twins sit, after a gruesome battle, eating grilled cheese and hot chocolate, like when they were little and came home from school.  So sweet, especially after a gritty scene.

I’m not sure I can name Joshua’s love interest, suffice to say she’s someone from his childhood, they’ve grown up in the same circles, and she’s perfect for him.  Brave and determined, beautiful and passionate, just as Joshua is lethal, both in bed and battle 😂.

This has been a wonderful story, and now looking forward to the bad boy in this twin duo, Caleb Accardi.  Can’t wait!

Miles & Daisy

Initially I didn’t understand Miles. He was different in this book from the goofy guy in the previous books. Then I got it, the something different about him that is the basis of this book, and I had an awww moment. He turned even more adorable! And it made this story so much more significant and emotional.

This incredibly good grumpy/sunshine story stole my heart.  Daisy is such a wonderful character, grumpy with an attitude and a heart of gold, she was perfect for goofball Miles, with the ADHD that made him fleet from one event to another.  He had a lot of yearning inside of him, a frustration that came from failing many times. In a way, this story is his redeeming story.

Throughout the book, I read the same feeling, Miles’ love for his big brother Weston, and how he didn’t feel seen by him.  Working with Daisy, helping her launch her business, let him achieve a purpose and a clarity of mind that allowed him to deal with his issues and let his brother finally see him at last. 

There is a lot of self-reflection in this book, a lot of evolution, a couple who were cleaning up their souls from heartbreaking debris that allowed them clear space for each other. When they met, they weren’t ready, and their way to each other is a beautiful story to witness. I loved reading the devotion, the change from friends to lovers, how Daisy’s snark changed to sweetness without losing her sass, and all the love between all, friends and lovers. The best finale!

I can’t think of a better series finale than this story that Siobhan Davis wrote about Drew. All the loops were closed, all the mysteries were discovered. Everyone gained closure and Drew gained peace. 

His lady love is his perfect soul mate, compatible in how they like their sexy times, as much as their bloody games. I loved how she kept Drew on his toes, gave as good as she got, understood Drew on a cellular level.  

The timing was perfect, the support from friends was initially forced but then highly appreciated, there’s gritty violence and angst and passion, so much of it. This book is highly entertaining, but also feels like a relief, an aha! moment when you know everything that happened and find the peace that comes with that knowledge.  And sweet revenge!

Siobhan Davis gave us another intense and passionate story, full of her trademark angst and drama, a wonderful love story that was chock full of adventure and suspense, surprising plot twists that I’ve learned to wish for and expect.  All in all, the best series finale ever!

It started snarky and ended up so sweet!  Ava and Cameron have this frenemies relation where Cam acts like a jerk just to rile Ava up and then his eyes shine because he’s anticipating the squabble about to rise up between them.  Such has been their relation for the last eight years.  

It all started one night, right before Cameron was about to leave for Notre Dame University and his football scholarship.  He’d always liked Ava but she was his best friend’s little sister, and he was about to leave.  But she came to him and begged, so prettily and insistently, so they had a night.  He panicked after and pretended he was so drunk he didn’t remember, and gained her hate and contempt for that.  

Now Cam is back home in Denver, Ava is working in Denver and out of a three-year relationship, so she was ready to be wooed and that’s just what Cameron was decided to do.  

Their path to love was riddled with snark and squabbles but it seemed to be their love language.  They were equally sweet and sexy, and so very well compatible.  

This was a fun story, full of shenanigans and sexy times, but also some angst and a little darkness.  I loved Ava’s brother Isaiah, he was an easygoing goofball, and Cam’s family.  The Kelleys are a big, loud and close knit family, and I loved reading about their dinners full of banter and love.

Book review: WHEN I HAD YOU, by S.L. Scott

One of the best books I’ve read by this author! Two broken souls, with different soul crushing problems, but they are made perfect when together.  I liked that the Westcott brothers’ stories went first, so we know each one and their quirks, and the author left the little sister’s story for last.  She’s a firecracker, typical of a little sister who has three older brothers, with an age gap, and super protective.  She had it in for cocky Cash Ryatt and she took no prisoners!

Cash, accustomed to women falling at his feet, was flummoxed by this beauty who only gave him grief.  The attraction was there, but he had other priorities.  He has a little boy, product of a toxic relationship with a model, and he needed to be on his toes because the mother of his child used all opportunities to block him from his little boy.  I loved that his purpose in having a successful racing career comeback is to give his little boy a future, not for his own fame.

Marina is an actress, actually filming a movie with a co-star who is her cheating ex-boyfriend.  Her reputation and her self-worth are at war and she needs to walk very carefully, avoid the paparazzi, and prevent any bad press.

So with all of these factors against, of course they match up and keep it secret.  Initially, Marina was sassy and snarky, but all that was replaced by sweetness and understanding.  I loved Cash and Marina as a couple and loved their story.  A great combination of heat and sweet, and sass of the mischievous kind, coming from Marina.  She sure kept Cash on his toes and made him the happiest he’s ever been.

This book was very entertaining, and I loved that the author made a great combination of humor and angst, sexy and sweet, and of action and character rumination.  The story pace was great and it made for very enjoyable reading.  I loved their story, how they shared their brokenness, buoyed each other up, made each other so happy as they fall in love, and strive to make one little boy feel happy and secure.  Great series finale!
