Book review: DR. PERFECT, by Louise Bay

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Doctors series #2

Zach & Ellie

Super sweet!  Ellie has recently come out of a ten-year relation and is still smarting from all of her bad choices.  She dropped out of University, worked hard all this time managing her boyfriend’s car racing career, and now that he cheated on her, she’s homeless and career-less.  She has nothing to add to her CV and so had to take a job as office assistant to Dr. Zachary Cove.

When Dr. Cove arrives, she notices there are a ton of missing things.  As in no laptop, no stationery, no business cards, no patients and no healthcare recognition providers.  The days go by and all he does is spend the day in the office tinkering on his laptop.

Zach doesn’t like being a doctor.  Studying medicine came easy to him but what he really wants is to write.  So he spends the day writing a novel and avoiding his assistant’s questions.

What I loved about this book is that both Ellie and Zach are sweethearts.  Both are dealing with life choices and how they’re not happy with what they’ve done so far.  Ellie is also dealing with self esteem issues, since she suppressed her wishes to comply with her ex’s whims.  Now she’s trying to put herself first.  Likewise, Zach is trying to establish his career but agonizes that he will disappoint his parents who are legends in the medical world.

I loved all the fun times with Zach’s family, his lovely parents, the banter between brothers.  We have a new Cove, cousin Vincent, who seems to be a workaholic and attached to the family.  There’s a funny part when grumpy father Cove grumbled about having a new sixth son, like having five sons wasn’t enough, until Vincent produced a case of his favorite wine.  Then father Cove crowed about his new favorite son!

The author wrote such a cute and sweet book about life choices, how love is about making the other one happy and support each other’s passions.  Ellie is mad about cooking and supports Zach’s writing.  Likewise, Zach and the family all rave about Ellie’s cooking and push her to pursue her career goals.  It’s lovely and inspiring and a happy story.

Book review: KARMA’S KISS, by R.S. Grey

The best part about this book is that it’s a small town romance, and I love this trope.  Everyone knows everyone else’s business, gossip tra...
