Book review: Kian, by Tijan

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love Kian!  He’s so intriguing, and for me, from the start, he’s obviously in love with Jordan.  This story is so romantic, with delicious dark undertones.  Kian saves Jordan from being killed by her foster father by killing him instead.  There was a trial, Jordan was a frequent attendant in gratitude, and Kian always looked at her, so profoundly, so keenly.  There’s a thought frequently repeated in the story, he gave up his freedom so she could be free.  It was so sad, and I hoped it would not turn out that way!

The media was relentless with Jordan and forced her to go into hiding.  An FBI agent, Stark, helped her get a new identity and she changed appearances, then went to Hillcrest University.

We live with Jordan her conflicted feelings as Kian is released from prison two years after the trial due to a dirty judge.  She’s incredibly attracted to Kian but also afraid of being assaulted by the media so she needs to keep in hiding.  Stark is always convinced that Kian’s family will go after her to prevent him from being tried again in court.

Their love feels forbidden but irresistible.  Kian has a vibe of darkness and danger, and Jordan is afraid but when she’s with him she feels safe.  She never doubted Kian’s good intentions to protect her, it was the people around her that confused her.  I love Kian’s relentlessness in pursuing Jordan, I loved how sweet and good Jordan is.  At one moment, her friend and roommate Erica needed her to be present at Kian’s interview and she went, determined to be there for her friend, in spite of her anxiety, that’s how selfless she is.

The story kept me fascinated and anxious to learn what will happen. I was rooting very hard for them to be able to be together.  It was a wonderful combination of events and actions, feelings and doubts, yearning and mistrust, super fascinating and addicting as all this author’s books are.

Book review: KARMA’S KISS, by R.S. Grey

The best part about this book is that it’s a small town romance, and I love this trope.  Everyone knows everyone else’s business, gossip tra...
