It’s at the same time a heartbreaking story of manipulation, hurt and hate, but also a wonderful story of love. I knew from the start that Kaiden and Maverick had been searching for their little brothers but didn’t know that Zayn had been near and hiding from them. The story he had of his adoption was completely different from what his older brothers knew and it was so powerfully sad to read.
Zayn has a lot to answer for since he broke the heart of a sweet girl, all part of a plan to get revenge on hurt done on his little brother Roman. In spite of his nefarious plans, he fell in love with Emery and then had to watch from afar as her life went up in shambles and protect her as best he could. He had a lot to answer for, and he had a lot for hope for.
I loved reading the interactions between the brothers as they reconnect, was saddened to see Zayn’s mistrust, loved how Kai and Zayn were so alike that they clashed, how Zayn and Joaquin were similar in their bad-boy-vibes, how much Roman absorbed Abby’s mothering style. It broke my heart how much Zayn loved and protected his little brother and would sacrifice anything to see him safe and happy!
This story had all the angst I’ve come to expect from this author, and it also had all the romance too. The brotherly love, love and loyalty between friends, and the sexy times were incredibly satisfying, making for a wonderful love story that encompasses different forms of love. I also appreciated the little touches of humor! Completely enchanting!
