Book review: UNDENIABLY CONVENIENT, by J. Saman

Boston Irresistible Billionaires #1

Bennett Lawson & Katy Barrows

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s such a wonderful feeling starting a book by this author!  The enjoyment started as soon as the first chapter began, and I knew I was in for a wonderful story.

Katy Barrows and Bennett Lawson worked together seven years ago, when he was Chief Resident and she was a third year med student. They shared a hot kiss one night and next day he left for a fellowship position across the country. But now he’s back in Boston and he’s the new hot shot chief of trauma surgery.  Even though seven years have passed, neither of them forget the hot kiss and the wild attraction they felt back then.

It all started with a stuck elevator and their second chance is up and running. Katy is forbidden to Bennett because he’s her boss. He’s determined to keep his distance, until he learns she plans to have a baby on her own, and that starts a yearning he cannot resist.  I laughed at their insistence to draft a contract and keep it strictly business because I could tell they were already half in love from the get-go.

The book is enthralling with all the hospital politics, a resident competing for the fellowship position, a relentless ex-wife who won’t stop calling, and a relentless ex-boyfriend who won’t give up getting her back.  And with all that, we get the fun of the huge family that Katy belongs to, the Fritz and the Central Square and the “two thousand cousins”, as Bennett would say.  I found it a happy circumstance that Bennett feels very lonely, having lost his wife who was cheating with his best friend, and now he has acquired a huge family and gets close to Katy’s favorite cousins.  Katy has a huge family where being lonely is not possible!

There’s lost of yummy steamy moments between this couple who insisted they are not falling in love but they are really crazy about each other.  I loved how enchanting Katy is as she won Bennett over with her beauty, intelligence, and sweet personality.  From being stubbornly against love, they are slowly and inexorably falling hard and turning into a family. I loved the story and the two characters, love that this is like a second generation of the Fritz and the Central Square guys, so we have a big bunch of cousins to look forward to their stories.  I was enchanted with this story and can’t wait for the next!

Book review: FLURRY, by Alison Rhymes

Seattle Blades #2

Zander & Willa

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Flurry is a beautiful love story between three persons. It is a little unconventional but completely romantic. I didn’t know what to expect about this story, maybe some kink, but what I got was a lovely story of three individuals who felt complete for the first time when they got together.

Willa is Isla’s little sister (Rainfall) all grown up. She’s been in love with Alexander, Isla’s best friend, for years, but she thought he was gay. Zander is not gay but bisexual and he’s been loving Willa for some time but didn’t dare approach. And last comes Damian, a guy with whom Zander has been developing a relation for some years. Zander is very closed-off, very private, mostly in defense of his job. The hockey world is not inclusive for non-straight men and he was just promoted to the majors.  Damian is aloof, a product of his upbringing and of feeling he’s not enough to hold someone’s love since he never felt loved by his parents.

In spite of their restraints, when the three share time for the first time, something beautiful and deep forms between all three, and it makes total sense that Willa belongs with them and to them.  She develops a deep bond with Damian, as she and Zander explore the feelings they have had for so long.  The love scenes, both in couples as in the three of them together, were passionate, very sexy, but also very loving.  There was love, communication, consideration, and lots of pleasure for all.  What I liked the most was the insistence on honesty and communication, all in an effort so no one feels ignored or pushed aside in favor of other.  Such is the beauty of this trio, who preferred to call themselves a tryptic.

I loved this beautiful and sweet story, as the author gives us an unconventional love story, and opens our mind to the concept that love is love, no matter the form it takes.  I loved the open mind set of all their friends and family, and how they had support as they faced public scrutiny.

It was beautiful, as I’ve said before but it bears repeating many times, because this story enchanted me.  I loved Damien, Willa, and Alexander; loved seeing Isla and Cillian living their rescued love with their daughter, loved how the story progressed, always in a positive note.  Wonderful reading!

Book review: JUST ONE MORE MOMENT, by Carly Phillips

Just one more comfort read from Carly Phillips! We’re now starting with the Sterling family, friends of the Dare family.  We know Remy because he’s partners with Zach Dare in The Back Door bars, both in New York City and the Hamptons.  This one happens in the New York City bar, where Raven Walsh had been Manager for some time.

There have been heated glances but no action between these two, mostly because Raven has kept Remy at a distance.  This distance disappeared during Zach’s and Hadley’s wedding, and our love story took off running. We learn the reason why Raven doesn’t do relationships, also why Remy doesn’t do them either, and we also get a sociopath on a warpath, and a lovely brother and nephew to defend. Remy Sterling is an alpha hero, quick to protect!

It’s entertaining, not very suspenseful, just quiet enjoyment for a lazy afternoon. We get to meet the rest of the Sterling brothers and sister, so we can start anticipating the next stories.  I’d also like to read a story about Raven’s brother Caleb, single father, very lovely man.

Book review: WRIGHT KIND OF LOVE, by KA Linde

Wright Vineyard #8

Book 2 in duet Wright Kind of Trouble

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Chase and Harley are finally together, after three years of Chase waiting for Harley to grow up some, graduate from college, be sure of what she wanted.  And on the night when they were celebrating being together for good, her four brothers happened.  This book starts exactly where The Wright Kind of Trouble ended, with a punch to Chase’s face, courtesy of Jordan.  But Harley, being the little sister of four big brothers, knows her stuff and she careened into her brothers, yelling some choice epithets, and got the fight ended.  She also threw her brothers out!  Talk about little sister power!  And now Chase and Harley got a little taste of what it will mean to come out as a couple.

The story is full of incidents, interspaced with a lot of sexy times.  We watch as they face each and every member of both families, some encounters were supportive, others fall-out contentious, and one very conniving, courtesy of Ashleigh, of course.  I found the story enthralling, I passed the pages fast because I was rooting for this couple and wanted to know how they did.  I loved all the glimpses into the Wright family life and loved that Chase and Harley went to another Wright wedding, to commemorate the one where they met.  There were also hints into future Wright stories, which I appreciate a lot!

And in the end, what I discovered was that Chase and Harley are perfect together and they do belong together.  They complete each other and make each other utterly happy.  It was a very sweet story that I loved reading.

Book review: SLAY KING, by Abbi Glines

Georgia Smoke #2

King & Rumor

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We continue this addictive series with the continuation of King and Rumor’s story.  King is relegated to the couch for lying to Rumor and he’s trying to wile his way into Rumor’s good graces again.  Meanwhile, it’s work as usual in this Mafia family and the action never stops!

Blaise makes several appearances, and we appreciate how he’s grown in power and ruthlessness.  He’s also shown to be human, as he respects that his men have women they love, same as he adores his wife and son.  King refuses to use the word “love” as it has negative connotations for him, but he shows quite clearly he’s obsessed and possessed by Rumor, to the point that the beast inside him wakes up anytime someone touches her or she shows a sliver of skin in her clothes.

I found Rumor to be too meek and found King quite funny in that he’s frequently unhinged, every time he’s away from Rumor and losing control of a situation.  And there were many such instances! It was comical to see his mates Storm and Sebastian having to grab him and prevent mayhem from happening.  I loved to see Gage again, after a siege, playing with some eyeballs like the psycho we all know and love.  And I see Thatcher is another psycho, so looking forward to his story!

Another aspect I love from this story is that, in spite of these guys being so violent and dangerous, family is important to them.  They protect those who belong to them, they respect Maeme like she’s everyone’s granny, and jump at the mention of waffles and bacon.

Super sexy, super entertaining, super addictive!  Tons of hot sexy scenes between Rumor and King! Rumor starts out timid but she does like some kink, as King awakens her sexiness, and it was great to see her flourish.  There’s a very interesting plot twist towards the end, very surprising!  It’s always fun reading this stories!
